Dan Minehan - Managing Director

Grew up in the forestry industry and has strong family connections within the forestry sector. Dan saw the demand for a service oriented forestry manager and consultant upon completion of his Bachelor of Commerce (Forestry Major) degree from Lincoln University.
To this end, Dan developed Independent Forestry Services (IFS) into a complete forest management company, providing forestry management, consulting, mapping, and carbon trading services. Dan is a registered forestry consultant with the New Zealand Institute of Forestry.

Paddy Minehan - Forest and Silviculture Manager - Southland

Spent time as a survey assistant with the New Zealand government before joining Independent Forestry Services, where he is involved in all aspects of the day to day running of silviculture management including budgeting, planning, QC plotting and contractor management. Paddy comes to IFS with decades of forestry industry experience and has a National Certificate in Forestry Silviculture NZQA.

Alistair McKenzie - Forestry Harvest Manager - Otago

Alistair grew up in the forest industry and has worked in the industry for 34 years. He spent 16 years working in forestry management roles for the New Zealand government, then 11 years as a forestry contractor. During this time he was involved in forest industry training in both a private and industry certified capacity. Alistair has an Advanced Cert. in Tertiary Teaching (Massey University). National Certificate in Forestry Silviculture NZQA and is a Registered Trainer/Assessor for FITECH. Ph. 027 267 8522

Mike Smith - Forestry Harvest Manager - Southland

Created and operated Mike Smith Forestry, a forest management business based in Southland for over 25 years. Mike has also been instrumental in the development of several profitable Forestry Investment Partnerships and brings 32 years of practical and financial forestry expertise to IFS.

Shaun Graves- Forest and Silviculture Manager - Otago

Sources and manages IFS blocks in the Otago region and has worked in the forestry industry for 17 years as a silviculture contractor as well as managing his own contracting gangs. Shaun has a National Certificate in Forestry Silviculture NZQA.

Mike Mitchell - Carbon Business Manager

Graduated Otago University with a double Bachelor Degree in Law and Business Management and has spent time with Mainfreight and AMP. Mike is responsible for the research and development of Independent Forestry Services' carbon consultancy.

Mark Taylor - Office Manager/ Mapping

Has 26 years of experience in the military and is responsible for the management of the IFS head office and GIS mapping. Mark holds a Diploma of Information Management and Analysis and is currently studying towards a degree in Environmental Management.
