How To Earn Carbon Credits From Your Land

  • NZ-ETS - New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme - From January 1 2008 landowners will be able to be able to gain credits and associated liabilities for the carbon stored in their forests. These credits will be able to be traded within the national Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ-ETS).
  • PFSI- Permanent Forest Sink Initiative - The New Zealand government has announced that from 2008 landowners will be able to generate Kyoto Compliant credits through farming carbon from permanent forests under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Permanent Forest Sink Initiative.   • AGS- Afforestation Grant Scheme - As part of the governments climate change policy grants will be available for the planting of new forests on previously unforested land. Participants will own the new forests and earn income from the timber while the Crown will retain all credits and liabilities.
